The home water testing scam

Have you found bottles on your doorstep with a request for a home water test sample? Was someone at your door offering to test your drinking water for free? Offers to test home tap water are part of a growing water testing scam used to sell expensive water treatment devices or home water system. Last week the scam victimized the residents of Conyers, Georgia.
To learn about your water quality, the USEPA recommends that you read the annual consumer confidence report (CCR) published yearly from your water supply authority. Required by the federal government, the report includes comprehensive details about drinking water and any documented contamination issues in your area. If you use well (ground) water, ask your local health department if they offer free water testing. Or test your water with one of our easy to use home water quality test kits. Don’t be a victim.
