Elevated Lead levels found in Chicago’s drinking water.

Posted by marketing on Feb 2nd 2012

From yesterday’s Chicago Tribune.

Current sampling methods may not be detecting all the lead in Chicago tap water.
In a new round of water testing by the Environmental Protection Agency, half of the 29 Chicago homes visited yielded at least one sample containing more than 15 parts per billion of lead, a level that can trigger regulatory action if detected during routine screening.” The article correctly mentioned the drinking water is safe when leaving the plant however it accumulates lead and other metals as it travels through older water service lines. Chicago has many working water service lines and pipes made of lead.

Concerned citizens can test their drinking water at home. Our eXact® LEADQuick™ Advanced Photometer is the perfect solution for accurate, reliable field testing of lead levels in water. This easy to use and auto calibrated meter uses our patented EZ-3 technology method. Additional resources on the dangers of lead in water are below.
